Grants - Good or Bad?
A grant is a sum given to an individual or business for a specific purpose. It usually covers only part of the total costs involved, although as long as you keep to any conditions attached to the grant, it will not have to be repaid.
Grants to help with businesses are available from a variety of sources; e.g. the government, European Union, local authorities and some charities. These may be linked to business activities and some are linked to specific geographical areas. Applying for a grant can be complex and time consuming. There is also a lot of competition and even if your business is eligible for a scheme, your application may not be successful.
What to Do If You Are Not Successful
Our primary expertise is obtaining funding for all different kinds of businesses, so if grants are not available we can take you through the other options and help you find the most appropriate form of finance.
We need to ensure that you are investment ready for these kinds of funding, so the best way to do this is to take us through your propositions, for example; what were you trying to do and without a grant what are the most likely outcomes? We can then work through the funding issue with you, to ensure the best possible outcome.
