The Team

The business team includes the following section heads :

David Bate, an ex-banker and asset finance expert;    

Chris Hope –an experienced private practice accountant –ex-senior partner KPMG, venture capitalist

Penny Davis –an HR expert specialising in developing teams and strengths within SMEs

The business has a large number of mentors and consultants who work on specific projects and with specific specialties.

How We Work

The first contact with the business, whether by email or telephone is reviewed and allocated to a personal owner of the relationship. The business team reviews all projects weekly to make sure the full capability of the business is brought to bear on any assignment –whether fund-raising, marketing or business recovery.

The business ethos is to go the extra mile; the compliments we receive for our helpful service even when we just point businesses in the right direction is enough satisfaction for us.

The approach is to make our customers successful by providing them with money, marketing skills and individuals or teams to deliver specific projects.

The Founder

Nick Bateman formed QR Ventures in 2001 with a primary purpose of rescuing businesses in difficulty. Nick who is both a qualified banker and accountant, had worked at senior levels within ICI plc and Zeneca plc growing technology businesses both in the UK and Overseas.

This had involved a number of situations requiring re-structuring, re-financing and rescue. Over the few years after leaving Zeneca and forming QR Ventures Nick turned round an AIM plc and subsequently sold it saving investors their investment; set up an accelerator company with Oxford Innovation and worked on a number of significant technology businesses.
